Tenryui-ji is in the central part of Arashiyama, the part most familiar to tourists. It is roughly the area from the JR SAGA-ARASHIYAMA station to the famous Togetsukyo bridge.
Here is the Sagano Sightseeing railway that follows the river along the old JR Sanin line, the famous bamboo forest and the tiny Nomiya shrine, to name just a few of the interesting things in the area.
